捕魚奇蹟顯示復活的主永遠和祂的教會同在。聖奧斯定指出：「基督站在永生的岸邊，向右邊撒出的網給天主的國帶來子民。」門徒整夜勞苦一無所獲，卻由於按著耶穌的命令再次撒網而獲得豐收，因此教會的宣講者必須完全信賴基督的助佑。
伯多祿一個人將網拉上岸，以及耶穌和他獨特的對話，顯示基督把教會託付給。伯多祿曾輕率莽撞地自誇要為耶穌而死（若十二37），卻三次否認耶穌；當時他並不瞭解，基督來是為把生命賜給一切屬於自己的人，當然也包含伯多祿。基督必須先為伯多祿的得救而死亡，然後伯多祿才能為了基督的福音而死亡。
伯多祿的經歷反應了人的真實情況：在耶穌受難時不敢承認耶穌，在基督復活的光照下看見自己是罪人；而耶穌再次的召叫促使伯多祿悔改，而使罪惡轉變成恩寵。擁有教會職務的人都應記取這個教導：如果我們愛耶穌，就不可只照顧自己，而應該牧放耶穌的羊群，並且不是當作自己的羊，而是耶穌的羊群，在他們當中尋求耶穌的光榮，而非自己的光榮。

My past is redeemed; my present makes sense, my future secure. I'm finished and done with low living, small plannings, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed visions, worldly talking, cheap giving and dwarfed goals.
I no longer need preeminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits or popularity. I don't have to be right, first, tops, recognized , praised, regarded or rewarded. I know life by faith, lean on Jesus' presence, walk by patience, am uplifed by prayer, and I labor with power.
My force is set, my gait is fast, my goal is heaven, my road is narrow, my way rough, my compainons few, my guide reliable, my mission clear. I cannot be brought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, deluded or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity.
I won't give up, shut up, let up, until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up, paid up and preached for the cause of Christ, I am a dcisciple of Jesus. I must go until he comes , give utill I drop,, preach utill all know and work utill he stops me. And when he comes for his own, he will have no problem recognizing me..... My banner will be clear.

有一位青年，老是埋怨自己時運不濟，發不了財，終日愁眉不展。這一天，走過來一個鬚髮皆白的老人，問：「年輕人，為什麼不快樂？」
「我不明白，為什麼我總是這麼窮。」
「窮？你很富有嘛！」老人由衷地說。
「這從何說起？」年輕人不解。
老人反問道：「假如現在斬掉你一個手指頭，給你1千元，你幹不幹？」
「不幹。」年輕人回答。
「假如砍掉你一隻手，給你1萬元，你幹不幹？」
「不幹。」
「假如使你雙眼都瞎掉，給你10萬元，你幹不幹？」
「不幹。」
「假如讓你馬上變成80歲的老人，給你100萬，你幹不幹？」
「不幹。」
「假如讓你馬上死掉，給你1000萬，你幹不幹？」
「不幹。」
「這就對了，你已經擁有超過1000萬的財富，為什麼還哀歎己貧窮呢？」老人笑吟吟地問道。
青年愕然無言，突然什麼都明白了。

復活的信仰不是來自「證明」，復活的信仰不能證明也不待證明。空墳不是復活的證據，而只是一個「記號」，一個指向復活喜訊的記號。這個記號的意義原本相當隱晦，只有當復活的主親自顯現（啟示自己）時，空墳才成為一個會說話的記號，告訴吾人那位被釘者已經復活，而且帶著肉身返回到父的光榮中。

三個離家闖天下成功的兒子聚在一起，討論各自送給老媽的禮物。
大兒子說：『我為媽媽蓋了一棟大房子。』
二兒子說：『我送給她一輛賓士，還附司機。』
三兒子說：『我打敗你們了，你們知道媽媽非常喜歡讀聖經，你們也知道她的眼睛不好. 我送她的是一隻會朗誦全本聖經的棕色鸚鵡，總共動用二十名修道院的修士，花了整整十二年的時間來教這隻鸚鵡，我還得每年都要奉獻十萬元，他們才肯訓練牠。不過 這是值得的，媽媽只要說出章節名稱，那隻鸚鵡就會開始背誦聖經給她聽。』

過了不久，他們就收到媽媽寄出的謝卡
給大兒子的寫道：『Charles，你蓋的房子好大。我只住在其中一個房間，但是我卻得打掃整棟房子。』
給二兒子的寫說：『James，我太老!沒辦法外出旅行。我整天都待在家裡，所以我從來沒坐過那台賓士。而且，那個司機好粗魯，好沒禮貌！』
她給三兒子的信柔和許多：『最親愛的Thomas，你是三個兒子中唯一知道媽媽喜歡什麼的，謝謝你送的那隻雞，非常好吃。

Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it!
Rule 2: The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
Rule 3: You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.
Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.
Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.
Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.
Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.
Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.
May today there be peace within.
May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be content knowing you are a child of God.
Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.
